It’s straightforward to make your own peanut butter, and everyone should try it. I bought some honey-roasted peanuts soon after seeing this recipe on another blog a while back. Sadly, I didn’t make it.
Then, this past weekend, as I was preparing the Udon Noodles with a lime-peanut sauce, I realized that I didn’t have peanut butter, and all I had were peanuts – perfect for making my own.
One and a half cups of honey roasted peanuts with 1/8 teaspoon of salt were processed in a food processor until smooth, and it took about a minute for it to form into a ball.
In addition to being easy, this peanut butter is also better than any store-bought peanut butter I have ever tried. If you don’t like honey roasted peanuts, you can use plain roasted peanuts, salted or unsalted, and adjust the amount of salt accordingly. Using the same method, you might also be able to make almond or cashew butter. That’s what I’ll try when I run out of peanut butter.
You should make this the next time you find yourself with a bag of peanuts and a few spare minutes.
